About

Hi there, I’m Julia!

Professional jellyfish poop scooper, scientist-in-training, and world traveler. At your service!

For the past four years, I have been a full-time doctoral student in biology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, trying to understand collective behavior and fluid dynamics in corals (more about my research here). I have been extremely fortunate to get a lot of travel opportunities through my research, going from wrecks and coral reefs on the bottom of the ocean to salt plains and shrines on the top of mountains. Every time, I am in awe of what I discover and learn about the world around me. Whether it’s something about the history or the nature of a place, the local customs, or the people, it just never fails to make me want to explore even more.

Through this blog, I want to take you with me on my adventures and share all my discoveries with you. I promise I will do my best to find and share the science behind the amazing things, places, and beings encountered along the way.

Let’s explore the world through travel and science!
